The Desert Vipers Motorcycle Club has a proud history in Southern California that includes motorcycle riding, racing, charity events, promoting the sport, and providing a fine example to several generations of motorcycle loving families.
The Club was actually founded in the early 1960s as a street motorcycle club called the Street Vipers. Bob Tarter convened a small group of men, including active members Ron Milligan and Lyle Palmer, in his shop in Westminster to bench race and talk about riding motorcycles. They would organize street rides and were often seen sliding their bikes sideways at the famous Ascot Park in Gardena. A few short years later, the siren call of the desert lured them from the street to the dirt, and in 1965, the Desert Vipers were born.

Vipers Donate $12,000 to CORVA - viperonline, September 9 2005
The Desert Vipers recently donated $12,000 to CORVA to be dedicated toward CORVAs Eco-Logic commitment. Eco-Logic is an organization that has hired Dave Hubbard, an environmental attorney, full time to pursue OHV land-use issues and litigation. In addition, the Vipers have been recently invited to sign a letter that was co-authored by all of the OHV leaders in the State and sent to Senator Bill Morrow. The letter commented on the recent audit of the OHV Recreation Program (Green Sticker Program) and also made many recommendations, including asking to launch legislative hearings on the problems with the OHV Commission. The Vipers have also been offered, and accepted, a seat on the Board of Directors of CORVA. This is huge news and offers everyone a wonderful opportunity to help guide the direction of this wonderful and active organization for the betterment of our sport.
